Race Information and FAQ's:

Q . When is the race?

A . The Yuengling Light Lager Jogger 5k is back and we can't wait to see you! The 12th annual race will take place on Saturday, April 20, 2024!

Q . Where does the race start and finish?

A . The race will start and finish at the old Yuengling Brewery in Pottsville, PA

Q . What time does the race start?

A . The run/walk will start promptly at 9am. 

Q . How much does it cost to register?

A . The race costs starts at $42 to register. We will have a price increase on 01/02/2024 @ midnight to $45. We have a final price increase on 03/01/2024 @ midnight to $50. Race day registration is available unless the race sells out for $50. You must register by April 1 to guarantee your preferred t-shirt size.

Q . Where can I park?

A . Parking will be FREE to all runners on race day. You may park at the Union Station lot the One Norweigan Plaza lot, Capital Parking Garage and in the lot reserved for Ramada customers. The new Mahantongo Street parking garage is now open! Ample signage will be placed around lots on race day and volunteers will assist with traffic flow. Q . Who can participate in the race?

A . Runners and walkers of all levels can participate in the race. The event is perfect for running your fastest 5k or for those who are more interested in taking it easy and enjoying the brews.

 

Q . Will the race be timed?

A . Yes! The race will be professionally timed with the most advanced timing technology available. Timing to be completed by SVE Timing.

Q . Can someone else pickup my race packet for me at packet pickup?

A . Yes! We are here to make your life easier. Someone else make pickup your packet for you as long as they are able to show some form of verification to our staff.

Accepted Items:

-Email authorizing designated person to pickup your packet

OR

-Copy of Driver's License

  

Q . Will there be prizes awarded to the winners?

A . Yes, the top 3 overall males and females as well as the top 3 male and female age group winners will receive fantastic Yuengling prizes as well as prizes from our other generous sponsors!

In accordance with USATF standards, overall awards will be based on gun time only.

We will also be giving out age group category awards for the top three male and female finishers in the following age groups.  Age group awards will be awarded based on chip time.

The top male and female finisher 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+ will receiving a Yuengling Light Lager Jogger 5k Yeti mug.   The top male and female age group winners will also receive a New Balance t-shirt, a Fleet Feet trucker hat, and swag from our friends at Like Air Snacks: a reusable bag, a $15 gift card to GIANT, and sample bags of product.

The top male and female <10 will received a candy trophy, donated by Something Sweet Candies!

Q . Will there be a costume contest?

A . Yes, we will have a costume contest to immediately follow the awards ceremony! Thanks to Mrs. T's Pierogies for donating gift baskets to our costume contest this year.  In order to be eligible, please join us on stage outside of the brewery.  You must be present to win. We will be giving out a prize for the best individual, duo and group (up to 6).

Q . Will there be a charity raffle benefitting Team RWB?

All proceeds for the charity raffle go directly to Team RWB. Each chance is $5. $20 for arm length! Drawing is at Saturday at 11:30am at main stage. Must be present to win! We will take ticket sales at pre-race packet pickup on Thursday and Friday as well as at the Team RWB tent on race day.

Q . What do I get for participating?

A . In addition to a well-organized event and volunteer support along the course, all participants will receive an official race t-shirt, virtual goodie bag, race bib with timing chip attached, two free 12oz. Yuengling Light Lagers (for all participants 21 years of age+), and an official Yuengling Light Lager Jogger 5k pint glass.

 

Q . Can I take a tour of the brewery?

.  Of course! Brewery tours are offered on Thursday, April 18 and Friday, April 19. Please see the brewery tours tab for more information.

Q . What happens if the race is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances such as a pandemic?

.  Please be aware that CK Running, LLC never plans an event with the intention of canceling it at a later date.  Canceling an event would happen ONLY under uncontrollable circumstances or if it is determined to be in the best interest and safety of any and all persons who may be in attendance.  Uncontrollable circumstances may include but are not limited to: extreme weather conditions, pandemics, gas leaks, water and/or power outages, local public health emergencies.  In the event that CK Running, LLC must cancel an event due to uncontrollable circumstances refunds will not be offered. 

In the event of a cancellation due to uncontrollable circumstances the race will move to a virtual only format and all runner items will be mailed to registered participants.

Registration fees are nonrefundable.

Q. I registered for the race but can no longer attend. Can I get a refund?

A. If you have ever organized a race before (or a wedding, birthday party, any event), you'll know that a lot of items need to be ordered and paid for well in advance. Those items are paid for by race registrations. As you can imagine, once registration opens, we have order and pay for all items, which is money we won't get back. On top of that, the registration sites used by events charge an additional fee to the races when they refund a participant, meaning that the race loses even more than just the registration fee. (One of the main reasons races have a no refund policy.) Also, insurance companies do not provide cancelation insurance for pandemics, currently, only for weather or natural disaster situations.

With all this in mind, we cannot refund money that has already been spent, so, currently, refunds are not available.

However, we understand that these are unprecedented times. If you are no longer comfortable attending an event in-person, you can switch to the virtual race and we will mail runner items to you.  

Q.  How do I switch from racing in-person to virtual?

A.  Please follow these instructions from our friends at RunSignUp regarding switching to virtual.  The deadline to switch to the virtual option is April 19 by 6pm EST.  There is no cost to switch from in-person to virtual.

Q.  Can I transfer my race registration to someone else?

AThere are two ways to transfer your bib to another person: BIB EXCHANGES and GIVE UP MY BIB

  • Bib Exchanges (Transferring to a person you know): Here is a tutorial with the steps you can follow to complete this process.  With this option, you can select a TRANSFER FOR REFUND or GIFT TRANSFER.
  • TRANSFER FOR REFUND: If you select a transfer for refund, you will initiate the transfer to your friend or family member and they will receive an email to complete their transfer and pay for the registration, plus the $10 transfer fee and online processing fee. 

  • GIFT TRANSFER: If you select a gift transfer, you will initiate the transfer to your friend or family member and they will receive an email to complete their transfer. They will be able to complete their transfer and pay the $10 transfer fee, plus the online processing fee. Once they complete their transfer, your transfer will be complete and you will be removed from the event.

The deadline to transfer registration is Tuesday, April 16 by 6pm EST.
